Altace contains the active ingredient Ramipril which is an angiotension coverting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors such as Ramipril lower blood pressure by reducing the production of angiotensin II, thereby relaxing the muscles in the arteries and enlarging arteries. This subsequently helps the blood to flow more easily reducing blood pressure and putting less pressure on the heart.

Take orally with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
